An In Depth Look At the Process
First Group Meeting
The first meeting includes a breakdown of the Sam Christensen Process
and an overview of marketing technology and how it affects you
and your life. This genuinely entertaining presentation orients
you to the roots and system of Personal Branding Technology, and contains
valuable information about the next steps in the process.
Participants receive handouts, information packets and a questionnaire
that they'll use during the course of the process.
The Questionnaire
The questionnaire is a carefully developed list of 140 adjectives
in seemingly random order: agile, sentimental, secretive,
adventurous, flashy, playful, etc. Between the
first group meeting and the wrap up, participants will ask friends,
co-workers and total strangers to fill out this questionnaire, checking
off any and all adjectives that they feel apply to you. Sound scary?
It isn't. The questionnaire takes only a minute or two to fill out,
and participants are taught the best, most non-threatening, non-invasive
techniques to encourage participation.
Participants will be instructed on how to devise control groups and
get an accurate statistical sampling. They will also be taught our
simple mathematical process by which you can break down the information
contained in the questionnaires. Other bits of source material are
useful as well many participants pull out old yearbooks, letters,
journal entries and managerial reviews.
Information gathered is then grouped by category; using recurring
themes and repeated concepts of behavior. The categories are sorted,
analyzed and then expanded, leading participants to a wide vocabulary
that describes then "to a tee." These words and adjectives
will become the building blocks to creating a new vocabulary that's
perfectly unique, relevant and individual!
Storytelling Exercises
This segment of the workshop also features guided storytelling exercises
that are entertaining, easy and revealing. As participants tell brief
stories to each other, they have the unique opportunity to evaluate
and summarize their impressions of the storyteller in a totally confidential
and supportive manner.
Some apprehension about "what you'll find out" is natural
at this stage, but we've trained thousands of people in this process,
and they've found it fun, exhilarating and profoundly fulfilling.
Participants are fascinated to discover just what other people are
seeing and thinking in this safe, personal environment.
One-on-One Appointments
Interim Appointments are scheduled privately and take between the
two group meetings. In these specially crafted private sessions, participants
evaluate their information, receive instructions about how to proceed,
have the opportunity to ask any questions that may have arisen during
the process, and get additional coaching.
Guided by the questionnaires, the feedback from the storytelling exercises
and the other source material, participants choose words and phrases
they favor for expressing their characteristics. In searching for
the most exciting ways to express individuality, participants report
feeling entirely comfortable being themselves, often for the first
time in their lives.
Second Group Meeting
The second group meeting features a fascinating presentation on marketing
applications and mythology; how the stories we tell as a culture define
us, and the stories we tell individually make us unique.
Also, participants learn how to apply their newfound vocabulary at
work, home and socially.
